The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) of Ghana has just concluded a strategic planning meeting to review its 2025 performance and set priorities for 2026.
According to NPA Chief Executive, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, the Authority recorded a strong performance in 2025 and is optimistic about achieving even better results in 2026
Key Focus Areas for 2026:
– Quality Compliance: Intensifying quality assurance measures through fuel marking programmes, routine inspections, and Bulk Road Vehicle (BRV) tracking systems.
– Safety Enforcement: Enhancing safety monitoring, including automatic tank gauging systems, electronic cargo tracking, and integrated enterprise data management platforms.
– Licensing and Regulation: Simplifying licensing processes and cracking down on illegal fuel stations.
– Investment and Infrastructure: Promoting private sector-led investment in the petroleum value chain, including LPG expansion and critical infrastructure development.
The NPA is also leveraging technology to monitor fuel transportation, prevent product diversion, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, the Authority is pushing for stiffer penalties for non-compliant operators
